While the month is basically over, May was known as Get Caught Reading Month. With summer just around the corner, it makes me want to celebrate during June and July too. I remember hiding Mary Higgins Clark books in my desk during middle school and Dean Koontz novels in high school. When I started driving, I always kept a book in the car in case I got trapped in traffic or found an opportunity to read while out and about. Even now, my family can track where I’ve been by my ever-growing emotional support stacks of books. I have one in my office, one on my nightstand, and one by my living room chair on the side table. Oh, and one on my “catch all” in our bedroom. There’s just something about a book. The way they feel and smell. The way we can drift into another world and never leave our homes. Books are magical.
My goal this summer is to slow down and read every day. Set down my cell phone. Turn off the other electronics. And disappear into the world of words.
Won’t you join me? Pick up a book today or order one online. Carry it with you. And then get caught reading.

Wonderful plan for the summer. Hope you pick up one of mine, hugs to you!
