“Surely I have composed and quieted my soul; Like a weaned child rests against his mother, My soul is like a weaned child within me.” Psalm 131:2
When I read this verse earlier, I remembered what it was like when I was nursing Carter. I could hold him on my chest and let him sleep, but after a while he realized where he was and wanted to nurse. Now that he is weaned, it’s totally different. I can hold him against my chest and he snuggles. He is comfortable and wants nothing other than to be close to his mama. No hidden agenda, no motive for being there, just a peaceful place to lay his head.
The writer of this psalm was at peace. His soul was comfortable and wanted nothing other than being close to his Abba. No hidden agenda, no motive for being there, just a peaceful place to rest his soul.
Is your soul at peace inside of you? Is your soul at peace with God? Just like a weaned child rests on his mama without a care in the world…
